Dr Amir Waly is an independent Specialist Consultant General Practitioner who runs his own practice. He provides consultancy services to medical centres and urgent care clinics, national telehealth services such as Healthdirect, on-site general practice to residents of selected residential aged-care facilities, advisory roles with medical technology startups, and involvement in Level 3 supervision of International Medical Graduates — with a focus on long-term, patient-centred care and the time and rigour required for complex clinical problems.
About this practice
This is Dr Waly’s independent specialist general practice. He is personally responsible for his patients’ care, his clinical decisions, and his correspondence with referring practitioners. The practice is not tied to a single brick-and-mortar location; it provides consultancy services across a number of unrelated engagements:
- Medical centres Consultancy services are provided to medical centres, including consulting sessions at Rudloc Road Medical & Dental Centre in Morley. Under a standard services arrangement, each centre provides reception, nursing, billing, and facility support to the practice.
- Urgent care Clinical services are provided to urgent care clinics for walk-in patients presenting with non-emergency urgent issues. Billing follows the funding arrangements of the urgent care service.
- Telehealth Telehealth consultations are provided to members of the public through national telehealth services such as Healthdirect.
- Aged care On-site general practice consultations for residents of selected residential aged-care facilities, in collaboration with facility nursing staff.
- Medtech advisory Advisory roles with medical technology (medtech) startups, contributing clinical and practitioner perspective to product development and clinical safety.
- IMG supervision Involvement in the supervision of International Medical Graduates (IMGs) at Level 3, under the Medical Board of Australia’s supervision framework. Level 3 supervision involves availability for clinical consultation and periodic review of the supervised practitioner’s practice.
Across all engagements, the professional, clinical, and ethical responsibilities of the practice remain Dr Waly’s. He is not an employee of any medical centre, urgent care clinic, telehealth service, aged-care facility, technology company, or organisation hosting an International Medical Graduate under his supervision.
Patients are welcome to request copies of their records and to nominate where correspondence should be sent. Records are held securely in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles applicable to medical practice.
Background
Dr Waly’s path into medicine began in pharmacy. He completed a Bachelor of Pharmacy at Curtin University and practised as a pharmacist before studying medicine, earning his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) at the University of Sydney. He has now practised as a registered medical practitioner for more than ten years, with over fifteen years of combined experience across health when his earlier pharmacy career is included.
Returning to Western Australia, he completed his junior doctor years primarily at Royal Perth Hospital before undertaking the vocational training to qualify as a specialist general practitioner. Alongside his general practice work, he has completed additional training and developed a special interest in skin cancer medicine — including skin checks and minor skin surgery (excisions) — and in non-surgical cosmetic procedures, including laser treatments.
Dr Waly has also worked extensively in regional and remote Western Australia, spending several years across the Pilbara in Karratha, Tom Price, and Paraburdoo. This experience broadened his clinical range and reinforced his commitment to accessible, practical patient care. He is now based in Perth, where he provides general practice, skin cancer, and cosmetic medicine services.

Approach to Care
Dr Waly believes that good general practice starts with time — time to listen carefully, to think clinically, and to put a clear plan on paper that patients and their treating clinicians can act on. His years working across the Pilbara reinforced a commitment to accessible, practical, evidence-based care, and to shared decision-making over directive advice.
